straw bale

Expert interview with

Jon Clark of EarthCraft Construction

straw baleIs there room for straw bale construction in this increasingly technological world?

Of course there is. I think there’s a lot of room for it, more now than ever before.
Just from the perspective of EMF reduction and the healthy home context that we’ve been talking about lately (as we have been giving presentation across the Treasure Valley, Idaho: Future Events – Brio Architecture) all the way to simply living renewably.

There’s certainly room for it.

straw baleAnd does straw bale construction offer financial savings over standard stick frame construction?

It does. If your financial model includes the amount of money that it costs to upkeep that house and the amount of money that it takes to keep that house comfortable to live in, then yes, it very much so.

Funding costs are marginally more depending on where you’re at, but really we like to

say it’s about the same for the houses that we build.
